Waterjet cold cutting creates no heat-affected zone in the cut material. Because there’s no heat, the technique can be used on composite materials and plastics as well as all kinds of metals.
And “sandwiches” can be cut easily, for example where concrete and steel are combined.
No toxic fumes are released from the waterjet cold cutting process and no chemicals are used.
UHP water consumption is very low, typically about 4 litres per minute for each cutting head, compared to conventional waterjet cutting methods, which use in excess of 20 litres per minute.
The cutting speed by 6 mm thick slabs is approximately 35 to 40 meters per hour.
The mobile cutting device is driven hydraulically.
When cutting tank floors, for example, the impact on the substrate below the floor plate is insignificant, typically no more than 50mm penetration.
